Doing Good for Erin for five years now!

It seems incredible that we’ve been Doing Good for Erin since 2019. With your help and support over the years, we’ve collected truckloads of comfy clothes, furnished a recovery house in Erin’s name, raised over $250,000 for non-profit agencies doing good in Kansas City, and awarded two scholarships in social work at the University of Kansas.

And this year, we hope to carry on our good work in Erin’s honor. Your care and concern for her causes continue to amaze us.

We’re becoming friends of Friends of Yates

We are so happy to partner with Friends of Yates as our 2023 beneficiary. Founded in 1913 as a branch of the YWCA in Kansas City, Kansas, Friends of Yates has specialized in providing educational and recreational programs for folks of all ages.

In 1980, they received a grant from the Governor’s Committee on Criminal Administration and the United Way to open the first domestic violence emergency shelter in Wyandotte County. Today, FOY offers all kinds of services primarily addressing domestic violence — from education to prevention, from counseling to a 42-bed shelter for victims and children. Their efforts have united their community and created a real family dynamic in Wyandotte County.

In addition, Friends of Yates is launching a new program for young people from 8 to 18 that will focus on preventing violence. This is an innovative course aimed at breaking the chain of violence, and it’s an impressive addition to an already inspiring lineup of programs and services.
